Why this exists
My son is in third grade. Every week he gets 15 spelling words, and every week he takes the test the same way most kids do now — on a computer, typing each word as it's read aloud.
One week he missed 5 words. Words like "increase" and "between" — not unusual words, just ones he hadn't had enough real practice with before test day. I wanted to help him practice at home, but I couldn't find anything that actually matched how his test worked: read aloud, type the word, no picture, no multiple choice to lean on.
So I built it myself — a small tool that reads each word aloud the way his teacher does, lets him type it in, and gives him a few different ways to practice depending on what he needs that day: learning a brand-new word for the first time, warming up before a real test, or taking a no-hints practice test that mimics the real thing.
"Everyone deserves education" — that's the whole reason this is free, and always will be.
Spelling Launch doesn't require an account, doesn't collect personal information, and isn't trying to sell you anything. If it's ever supported by ads or donations, that's just to help cover the cost of keeping it running — never to gate what a kid can access.
